Toric Color Contact Lenses

Interested in Toric color contact lenses?  Toric color contact lenses weren’t around when contacts first came out.  When contacts first came out, they were only available for people who either needed to correct myopia or hyperopia but not those as well as astigmatism at the same time.  In the past if you needed both corrected and you wanted contacts, you simply were not suitable for contacts and you’d have been out of luck.

These days with the technological advancements made in this industry, toric lenses have come out to allow for people who need 2 powers or curvatures for correction to enjoy contact lenses instead of glasses, there are even toric color contact lenses so you can not only see better, but also change your eye color as well.

There are those who may only have astigmatism in one eye but have astigmatism and near sightedness or far sightedness in the other, in such a case, they would be prescribed a toric lens for one eye and a regular lens for the other.

These toric lenses can either be soft or hard and gas permeable.  Toric lenses though are not perfectly symmetrical all the way around and they do have an up and a down.  The lower portion is a bit heavier and has “ballasting” at the bottom so that it stays in place.

As far as the fitting of these lenses and the price, fitting can take more time due to them having to go in a particular way and because these types of lenses take a bit more effort to create, they also come out a bit more expensive than regular lenses.

Toric lenses these days are also now available in many different formats like regular contacts.  Usually contacts for astigmatism have been rigid, however these days toric lenses can be soft or RGP types and they can be had for extended wear or be bought in disposable and of course colored contacts.

If you’re looking at getting some colored lenses in a 6 pack that are toric lenses, you’re going to have to pay a little over $50.  Normally this would cost about $35 or so if they were regular lenses, but seeing as how you’re looking for toric lenses, you’re going to have to pay a bit of a premium.

There are several manufacturers for toric color contact lenses, “Freshlook Colorblend Toric” though is one option to look into.  As is “Durasoft D 2 Optifit Toric Colors”.  Do make sure you do your due diligence in researching for toric color contact lenses as these can be quite pricey.
